About Us
Since its founding in 1942, Edison School has been a proud and integral part of the Bridgeport community. As a neighborhood school, we are honored to serve generations of families who have received their education within our walls. Today, Edison School consists of 13 classrooms serving students in grades K–6.
In addition to core academic subjects—Language Arts, Math, Science, and Social Studies—students participate in Art, Physical Education, Music, Writing, and Library-based enrichment activities, fostering a well-rounded educational experience.
Our Instructional Leadership Team includes the Principal, School Psychologist, Writing/Intervention Teacher, and two Special Education Teachers. All educators play a vital role in supporting student achievement. Every classroom is equipped with Promethean Boards, enabling interactive learning, and all students have access to iPads and laptops for engaging, technology-enhanced instruction.
To support academic growth, we utilize DIBELS for universal screening three times a year—in September, January, and May. These assessments help guide targeted interventions tailored to each student’s needs. All students participate in MTSS (Multi-Tiered Systems of Support) to ensure personalized learning pathways.
Students in grades 3–6 take the SBAC (Smarter Balanced Assessment Consortium) state assessments in Language Arts and Math, with results shared with families to support continued growth.
We take pride in nurturing responsible, respectful, and safe citizens through our commitment to PBIS (Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports). Students earn Eagle Merits for following our Golden Rules and can redeem them at the school store for items of their choice.
